Book Buddies:
I’m writing to you late on a Monday, after a very annoying few hours at the laundromat, the worst place on earth. But luckily for us all, I have survived. My household now has clean clothes, and here I am to tell you about everything cool happening in BB world this week.

Gen Writing Prompts for February 10 and 13, 2026
Object (of my affection)
February 10 and 14, 2026
One of our gen writing days falls on Valentines Day, hurray! I hope you can hang. This week, I want you to use a meaningful object as a prompt for a new piece in the genre of your choice or maybe as a boost in the section you’re revising if you’re swimming in a WIP this week.
Choose an object that is real right now or from the past. It should be sentimental but not necessarily in a way that is obvious to anyone but you. Now, you can use the object in your work in one of the following ways or go your own way and just let whatever inspiration the object itself is providing you drive the story bus.
The object launches a windy and complicated mystery or eventually will be the key to solving one
The object gives the handler something special like magical powers or access to three wishes
The object sometimes comes to life/can speak
The object is revealed to be a crucial part of an alien civilisation
The object is responsible for a huge change in someone’s life: a job change, an influx or loss of cash, death or escape from it, cure from an illness, the answer to a long burning unanswerable question.
The object holds the meaning it holds in your life for a fictional character and the new piece begins with the discovery or rediscovery of it
A character interacts with the object in some way 3-4 times. It’s the basis for the pattern in a pattern story.
The object is lost accidentally or purposely
Send me your announcements! I wanna hype you up!
Stay warm and cozy and safe.
ILYSM you are the best crew of writers that ever existed.
XO
