How it Works
Book Buddies is a subscription-based curated virtual community for writers that supports all aspects of the writers’ life. Membership provides opportunities for generating work and brainstorming project ideas in community, regular feedback on your work from intimate groups, craft instruction, occasional community-wide challenges, along with fun and meaningful fellowship with other writers. A Book Buddy membership will keep you writing by holding you accountable, giving you the tools to level up your technique, and being the very best, most sincere hype squad/cheerleaders you’ll ever encounter. It’s like a gym membership, but for writers!
How to Engage
There are three tiers of Book Buddy membership.
Tier One Membership
Access to bi-monthly “read like a writer” community wide book club and twice weekly generative writing sessions (affectionately called “Gen Writing”) which meet on Tuesdays at 6:30-8:30pm EST and Saturdays from 10am -noon EST. Writers are given a prompt at the start of the meeting, then write alongside each other for an hour. In the last hour writers can share their work for positive only, super specific feedback or talk process.
OR:
A seat in a small feedback group (capped at 6 writers) that meets for 90 minutes bi-weekly. Writers get eyes on up to 10 double spaced pages of work every 2-3 meetings, and discussions skew in the direction of supportive brainstorming, specific craft centric praise, and collective problem solving based on the writers’ needs and desires for their own work. Discussions also sometimes feature intensive craft lessons. No written feedback required.
